Our Mission
To maintain a Shelter for homeless and unwanted cats with the goal of placing all healthy cats into loving adoptive homes while providing sanctuary for cats that are terminally ill, considered unadoptable, or whose owners have arranged for their continued lifetime care. In a nurturing, rehabilitative environment, we ensure the health of all cats entrusted to our care, promote spaying and neutering, and resort to euthanasia only as a matter of compassion for cats whose terminal illness causes suffering.

string(697) "The Spay Neuter Action Project was co-founded in 1990 by a group of woman volunteering at the local municpal shelter. Candy Schumann, Barbara Rosenbaum, Rosemary Shelton, Diane Caulkins, and Maggie Houlihan figured out that after seeing countless stray animals come and go, they knew that adoption alone wasn't going to solve the problem! There were simply too many unwanted animals and not enough homes! Theses volunteers realized that to reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters every year, it would be necessary to reduce the numbers of homeless animals coming into the shelters in the first place.

Animal Welfare Foundation helps pets by providing low-cost spay/neuter referrals and financial assistance if the owner can't afford the costs. In special cases, we can cover the total cost but that is on a case by case basis.
We also provide help with surgeries for conditions resulting from not spaying or neutering. Those conditions include pyometra, testicular cancer, etc.
For senior pets, we provide assistance with the extra requirements for surgery like IV catheter, blood panels, and antibiotics.
Any and all assistance provided is with the agreement from the owner that a spay or neuter is performed during surgery.
